Dr. Brian E. Wood is affiliated with LewisGale Medical Center and the physician practice of LewisGale Physicians Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. Dr. Wood graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. He continued his education with residency in General Psychiatry at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, and a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry as part of the Roanoke-Salem program at the University of Virginia. During his residency, Dr. Wood served as Chief Resident in his field of study.
Dr. Wood is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and serves as an associate professor at both the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, also serving as Chair of Psychiatry at the latter. Dr. Wood is also past president of the Psychiatric Society of Virginia and remains active in leadership roles within his profession. Immediately prior to joining LewisGale Physicians, Dr. Wood was the Director of Psychiatric Education and the Medical Director for the Center for Neurocognitive Services at the VAMC in Salem. His current practice focuses on the field of Geriatric Psychiatry with particular emphasis on assessment and treatment of memory disorders.
