About
Originally from Wexford, Ireland, Dr. Gerald Wickham holds a Bachelor of Arts from Ulster University, Northern Ireland; a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa; and a Doctorate in Education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin. He has completed post-doctoral and professional development training with Harvard-Macy, the Shapiro Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and MIT. Additionally, Dr. Wickham is also a published poet.
He previously served as Executive Director of Institutional Accreditation at the ACGME, overseeing annual accreditation decisions for all U.S. sponsoring institutions. He introduced a new fellowship in Healthcare Administration, Leadership, and Management (HALM) and expanded the Institutional Review Committee. Dr. Wickham has also held senior leadership roles at the University of Iowa and the University of Illinois, where he introduced medical education technologies, established innovative teaching collaboratives, and developed novel evaluative tools for interprofessional learners.
