Dr. Jorge Leiva is a board-certified General and Bariatric Surgeon with Houston Surgical Group in Houston Texas. Dr. Leiva received his medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi in Mexico. He completed his Internal Medicine internship at Central Texas Medical Foundation at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas and his General Surgery diploma at Christus Saint Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. A native of Mexico, Dr. Leiva is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Leiva is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of surgeons (ACS). He is also a member of the society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Foregut Society (AFS). Dr. Leiva is a Faculty Surgeon for the University of Houston College of Medicine General Surgery program. He is recognized as a Center of Excellence for his work in Bariatric Surgery and has a special interest in Robotic and Laparoscopic surgery including gastroesophageal reflux surgery, colon surgery, all types of hernias and gallbladder disease. Dr. Leiva is the Medical Director of the Robotics Surgery program at HCA Healthcare North Cypress Hospital. He is also the founder and director of the Houston Surgical Group Heartburn and Reflux Center. When Dr. Leiva is not treating patients you will find him spending time with his wife and 4 children, playing outdoor sports or traveling the world.
